Microbiological Assay Analyses

A reduction in antimicrobial activity may not be adequately demonstrated by chemical methods.

The effectiveness (potency) of an antibiotic is determined by comparing the inhibitory effects of the concentrations of the antibiotic to be examined according to the concentrations of the known reference substance on the sensitive microorganisms concerned.

Assay analyses are performed using digital imaging to automate zone area reading and calculations with the Zone Reader Device.

Upon the client’s request, antibiotic assay analyses are performed according to the EP, USP, BP and JP pharmacopoeias recorded in the device software.

Antibiotic Zone Reader eliminates all transcription and calculation errors, resulting in significant workforce and test standardization.

The analyses performed are reported in full compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
