Reliable determination of active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, and other components in pharmaceutical products is of critical importance for ensuring product quality, formulation suitability, and process control.

When Ultraviolet (UV) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) detectors do not provide sufficient response due to the chemical structure of the analyte, Evaporative Light Scattering Detection (ELSD) offers an alternative and complementary HPLC detection approach.

UV Detector: Suitable for molecules containing chromophores that can absorb UV light.
MS Detector: Suitable for molecules that can be appropriately ionized under suitable conditions and generate a measurable m/z signal.
ELSD: Enables detection based on low volatility and light-scattering properties, without requiring a chromophore or readily ionizable functional group.

This characteristic makes ELSD an effective alternative for the HPLC analysis of non-volatile compounds, including sugars, lipids, polymeric components, and various excipients, particularly those exhibiting low or no UV absorbance and limited MS response.

HPLC-ELSD analyses can be performed to provide reliable analytical data for raw material and excipient testing, formulation development, product comparison, process optimization, and routine quality control studies.

At WMINOLAB Innovation Laboratory, studies can be planned to cover the complete analytical workflow, including method development, method validation, analysis, and comprehensive reporting of results.
